NEW — 8:45 p.m. Nov. 4, 2014
The voters have spoken, and after early election results trickled out Nov. 4, it appears that local incumbents won’t be leaving their seats anytime soon.
All candidates representing Newcastle in both the state Legislature and on Capitol Hill, have healthy leads over their opponents after King County released the first batch of Election Day results at 8:15 p.m.
In the 9th Congressional District, U.S. Rep. Adam Smith (D) is well on his way to re-election with 69 percent of the vote. Republican challenger Doug Basler received about 30 percent of the vote.
It’s much of the same in the 41st Legislative District, as incumbent State Reps. Tana Senn (D) and Judy Clibborn (D) hold leads over their challengers.
Senn was appointed to the Legislature after having been appointed to the Mercer Island City Council. She held a 62-37 lead over Republican Bill Stinson.
Longtime legislator Judy Clibborn outpaced challenger Alex O’Neil, 74-25.
Finally, it appears Newcastle resident Lisa O’Toole will fill a seat on the King County District Court, taking a 64-34 lead over Sammamish resident Marcus Naylor.
King County will update election numbers every weekday at 4:30 p.m., with the exception of the Veterans Day holiday, until the results are certified Nov. 25. View full results here.
