A subject that dominated discussion at Newcastle’s town hall meeting last month is on the agenda for the City Council’s second meeting of July.
The council is set to talk about traffic calming measures on Southeast 75th Street in its first general business item of the evening.
Last month, neighbors used the town hall forum to express concerns about speeding on the street.
They also came to last year’s town hall meeting and at least one Newcastle City Council meeting in 2014 to ask the city for traffic-calming measures on the street.
In the past, residents said they have concerns about letting their children play in yards, and are concerned about the effect the speeds have on a nearby bus stop as students wait for and exit the vehicle.
Residents on the street want to see speed bumps installed.
The City Council meeting starts at 7 p.m. July 21 at City Hall, 12835 Newcastle Way, Suite 200. View the full meeting agenda here.
