The Coal Creek Family YMCA is doing its part to ensure money isn’t an obstacle when it comes to taking advantage of the facility’s program and services.
The local Y has launched its “2015 Annual Campaign,” a charity movement geared toward making sure that every community member has access to the nonprofit’s healthy-living resources, regardless of financial barriers.
“Through the YMCA’s Annual Campaign, your contribution helps us provide program support and financial assistance to families who need it in our community,” Coal Creek Family YMCA Associate Executive Director Sara Biancofiori wrote in an email. “Only by working together can we give more kids the opportunity to grow in spirit, mind and body.”
Every day, the Coal Creek Family YMCA works to support the people and neighborhoods that need it most by addressing community issues, such as school readiness, chronic diseases and childhood obesity.
“Countless people know the YMCA, but there’s so much more to our Y than one might think,” Biancofiori said. “The Y is more than a gym. It’s a cause. As a charity, we’re dedicated to nurturing the potential of every child and teen, improving the nation’s health and well-being, and giving back and providing support to our neighbors.”
This year, the Coal Creek Family YMCA hopes to raise $315,000. Funds raised will support kids and families facing financial barriers that would not otherwise have access to the facility’s programs and services.
In 2014, charitable gifts from YMCA donors made it possible for 8,600 kids to have a safe place to learn and build confidence; for 2,300 families to reconnect and grow together; and 1,300 families to rely on the Y for swim lessons, Biancofiori said.
